My father Steve Vavilis came to the United States at age 17 from the island of Chios, in Greece, speaking no English. He joined family members who had arrived before him, and they taught him the restaurant business. As soon as he could, he opened his first restaurant, George’s, named after his father. Then in 1998, he and his brother Michael opened Morning Star Café, this time named after my sister, who my dad used to call his “Morning Star.” My dad passed away in 2015, and I’ve been upholding the family tradition — good value, great food, excellent service — ever since.

We’re taking every precaution to guarantee your safety and ours during the Covid-19 outbreak. We’ve stepped up our sanitation procedures, put social distancing measures in place, and reduced contact with each order to the bare minimum. We monitor the health of our workers, and we take care of them when they can’t come in to work.
